Midwives - Hospital Based

"A midwife's work means something: It prepares the woman to go through childbirth in a way that's transformative and empowering. The empowerment and self respect she learns in labor is passed on to the child in a loving relationship."
- Ina May Gaskin CPM

Certified Nurse Midwives - CNM's are licensed and regulated under their nursing license. They are the are primary care for low risk pregnant mothers. They can practice in hospitals, birth centers, or attend home births. In the US they are one of the fastest growing professions. In every other country, with socialized medicine, midwives attend the majority of births.

Not all midwives are non-intervention oriented. You must interview and know what kinds of questions to ask to evaluate if they are a good match for you.
