While looking for inspiration for a topic I came across a meetup group that was talking about having a fertile life. The concept sparked my curiosity. As usual, I consulted my guru Google and found a couple of references. Fertility seems to be a household term! Back in the 1950’s nothing was talked about in the open! Not sex, not menstruation, conception or fertility (the m-word is still kind of taboo) were not out of the closet – yet! Now it seems like anything goes. Ok, fine but has this helped or harmed? I see too much fear and anxiety in my clients.
I like the idea that fertility is based in abundance and creation in all areas of our lives not just creation of another human being. How do we engage the energy of creation? Writers, artists and musicians must know that they have to be in a certain kind of mood. There has to be inspiration. You can’t force it. If you can bring love, caring and compassion into what ever it is you are creating it is even more effective and powerful! I’m thinking this process requires one to be able to relax and allow. There are lots of things that have to come together to create something really great. Many of them are out of our control and are not concrete. There is mystery involved in creation.
It seems many parents are challenged with fertility issues. There are very real issues that can prevent conception. I work with this issue in my Asian bodywork practice. I always suggest trying the least intervention – oriented treatment first. That may be doing nothing. I notice that many couples are not willing to wait and see what happens. All too often conception becomes a science project. How often do we have the opportunity to invite another soul into our lives? It is a rare and sacred experience. Where is the joy, and the love – the passion that brought a new baby into the world?
Please consider “least intervention oriented first” as less most often involves less possible harm. Just because a medical or alternative practitioner suggests a form of treatment, and says there are no problems, does not mean this is true. Do your homework! Consider the costs from a financial, emotional/spiritual and physical perspective. Most of the time we just don’t have enough proof until some years after when we look back at what was recommended and is now thought to be a very bad idea at best or has caused harm and suffering or death at the worst.
We don’t always get what we want from life. We don’t have control over much in life at all when it comes right down to the finish line. Cherish your health as the greatest gift you will ever receive because it is true. Make your decisions based on evaluating the risk vs possible benefit in all things. There are many wonderful ways to create that will benefit others. May you find your inspiration for health and well being from the abundance and joy in life.
