I am so excited! I am going to summer camp! One of the fun things I have been learning about is non violent communication (NVC). Marshall Rosenberg is considered the founder of this method of communication. It is a way of speaking that encourages connection and honors what is most alive in you and me! I have been studying this for several years and have experienced improvements in all my relationships. There is also a counseling style based on these techniques. The most fun and exciting thing of all is that I will get to live in community with others who also value connection and want to practice NVC. It is not so easy to practice but even near misses get great results.
Learning how to practice empathy with self and others has given me a new perspective. I feel more free to ask for what I need without any expectations. I am able to encourage others to express themselves without being judged. I am even more kind to myself! We have been programed for centuries to think in the power over model. It can be challenging to break out of that. It can be done. I am so happy to be able to participate and learn even more.
You can find trainers in our area by visiting www.cnvc.org. I have been able to connect with trainers through teleseminars. This has been fun. The library also has books and CD’s. Here is a web site that is informative and offers many resources. https://nonviolentcommunication.com
