Thank You BirthLink!

A Happy Mother

After a birth options phone consultation, with Jo Anne Lindberg, I chose to have my prenatal care at Elmhurst memorial – the midwife group.. The midwives there are terrific! Hannah Claire was born on January 30. 8 lbs 4 oz and 20.5 inches. Labor started at 1:30am at home. Arrived at hospital at 3:30am and she arrived at 5:34am. I labored in the birthing tub but ended up delivering her quickly after switching to the birthing stool. I was able to do it all without meds! Quite painful but quick and just the way I wished for :). Hannah is growing fast and is loved a ton by her 2 big sisters. Our entire family is now seeing a doctor suggested by Jo Anne too, whom we love!

Another funny/interesting thing – I am 5’4″ – some people would say “petite” build (not me (: ). Anyhow, my older girls were 6lbs 8 oz and 6 lbs 12 oz. little Hannah was almost 2 lbs more. The majority of my friends who have given birth have been c sections – because MD said baby was too big/stuck, etc.  I love telling my story (when people ask) because people are amazed I had Hannah naturally. I try to tell people that baby’s can “move” if you “allow” them and you aren’t lying on your back during labor :). Granted, my pelvis is still recovering but people don’t understand sometimes that c-sections are major surgery.

Ok, off my soap box …

Have a great day – and THANK YOU,  again.
