I was inspired to think about creating wellness. We live in a culture that does not support health and wellness. Many of us are working just to stay on top of the bills. Many are stressed and living in a state of fear. Much of this fear is not based on facts but generated by the media. Being human is tenuous at best. We are born, we live and we die. Life is short in the grand scheme of things. What can we do to make the best of it?
First, take a look at your life style choices. Are you eating well, nourishing yourself with the best possible diet or could you make better choices? Are you getting regular exercise that you enjoy? Are you able to rest well? Quantity and quality of sleep are so important. Can you and do you fully relax at other times as well? This allows your body to heal. How do you release the stress you accumulate? The choices we make are the basis for good health.
When was the last time you felt really good? If the answer is “too long ago” what action are you willing to take? Life is too short to live it plagued with health problems that can be helped with support from a wellness perspective. Looking at the root of the problem instead of just masking symptoms is what you are looking for. Remember emotions also play a huge role in our quality of life. Are you worrying yourself sick? You do get to choose your thoughts and our mind does impact our body.
When you have done all you can do on your own and you are facing a health challenge do you choose the least intervention-oriented option first? Have you educated yourself so you can make informed decisions or do you just do what your insurance dictates? Do you seek out practitioners who support your own natural healing ability or do you want the quick fix in the form of medications. There is always a trade off. Remember to evaluate “Risk vs Possible Benefit” in all forms of treatment.
There are so many wonderful options that offer healing support. If you or anyone you know is confused and needs help with choosing practitioners please let BirthLink know. We know many of our members personally. We also give personal referrals by phone. If your case is complicated we can help you sort through your options with a wellness consultation. Healing is not a straight line. What works for one person may not work for you. Learning to listen to, and trust your body, is a part of the process.
